Beavis and Butt-Head: The Great Cornholio

Join Scott and Shawn as they take a look back at one of the quintessential cartoons of the 90's: Beavis and Butt-Head! And of course, if you only had to pick one episode of Beavis and Butt-Head to watch, it's the one being reviewed in this week's episode: "The Great Cornholio"! An episode with big pop culture significance. So much so that it changed the word "bunghole" forever. Listen as they detail the history of the show, from a short called Frog Baseball made by a former physics student named Mike Judge, to a long running and beloved series on MTV, to a full-length feature film, to a one season only revival in 2011. They'll talk about the issues with the home video releases, including what was cut from this episode, their own experiences with the show growing up in the 90's, and what exactly made this show about two stupid high school aged losers so hilarious and special. So devour some candy, down a six pack of root beer, pull your collar over your head, and look for TP along with us!

Star Wars: Droids: The Revenge of Kybo Ren

Join Scott and Hamish as they take a look back at an episode of an often forgotten chapter of the Star Wars saga: "Star Wars: Droids!" Listen as they breakdown and review the eighth episode "The Revenge of Kybo Ren". They'll talk all about the chronology of the series, the status of its canonicity, and especially the curious character of the space pirate Kybo Ren, whose name seems way too similar to "Kylo Ren" to be just a coincidence. Does this cartoon have anything to do with the movies? How did C3PO and R2D2 have these adventures independent of the other cinematic characters? Did George Lucas change anything for the home video release? Wait, why is there a Klingon ship in this?! They'll answer all of these, and much much more! So wheel yourself space cake, disable your green force field, and laugh along at whatever this cartoon was trying to do! Bleep bloop!

The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles: Attack of the Hawkmen (Part 1)

Join Scott and Steve as they take a history-rich look back an an often forgotten chapter in the Indiana Jones franchise: the early 1990's ABC TV series "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles"! Listen as they breakdown and review the episode "Ravenel, France 1917", which served as the first part of the made for TV movie "Attack of the Hawkmen". They'll discuss the amazing historical accuracy of this fictional account of Indiana Jones' World War I assignment as a photographer for the French flying squadron known as the Lafayette Escadrille and his encounters with the feared pilot better known as The Red Baron. They'll also discuss creator George Lucas' meticulous timeline for these globe-spanning adventures in Indiana Jones' life, as well as his apparent penchant for adjusting his work years later. Aside from the story, they'll talk about the many real-life people Indy encounters in the episode and how their portrayals match up to their real stories. If you are a history buff, this is the Hitting Play episode for you!

The Simpsons: The Town and Super Bowl LI (w/ Matt Selman)

Join Scott, Kevin, and Hamish as they welcome a very special guest, Simpsons executive producer Matt Selman, for a revisiting of the hilarious Boston-themed episode "The Town"! Listen as Matt shares some inside details about the episode, including its original story, involving conspiracies and red coats, a one-time only Easter egg for a re-airing of the episode, and how it became a wonderful love letter to Boston, how an episode is made, as well as the New England Patriots' recent improbable championship win, and how The Simpsons eerily predicted the victory and parade back in October! They'll also discuss Tom Brady's uncharacteristic local commercial, their individual experiences watching the big game last Sunday, and various Boston area eateries. If that wasn't enough, Matt addresses questions about a possible Simpsons movie sequel, a (hopefully far off) series finale, and also talks about a possible episode for next season, and much, much more! Batman (1966): Smack in the Middle

Join Shawn and Scott as they breakdown and review "Smack in the Middle", the second episode of the iconic 1966 series "Batman"! Listen as they detail this story, which continues from the Batman pilot (covered in last week's episode of the podcast) in which the dastardly Riddler hatches a plot to separate the Dynamic Duo, kidnap Robin, and steal a small country's priceless treasure. They'll talk about Burt Ward's difficult performance, attempting to portray Jill St. John's character, Molly, disguised as his character, Robin. They'll also talk about the only on-screen death to ever occur on the show, why Batman and Robin needlessly caused millions of dollars worth of damage, and the stupidity of Batman falling love with a girl he only talked to for three minutes...oh, and also tried to kill him! From Batmobile chases and "La-zar" beams to well labeled instrumentation and jewel-encrusted woolly mammoths stuffed with postage stamps, not to mention the brilliance of Adam West and Frank Gorshin, this episode has it all! Plus, they rank the cinematic Batmen! So spray some "Can A" in your face, turn off the detect-a-scope, and conclude this campy bat-venture along with us! Na-na na-na na-na na-na na Batman!

And don't miss our breakdown of the first part of this story, "Hi Diddle Riddle" in last week's episode! (It'll help this episode make a little more sense!)
