Pokémon: I Choose You!

Join Lily, Scott, and special guest Hamish, as they embark on an exciting quest in a world of collectible little creatures and watch the very first episode of the hit anime series "Pokémon"! Listen as they breakdown this episode, detailing the story of 10-year-old Ash Ketchum and his quest to become the world's greatest Pokémon master. They'll also talk about the dangerousness of allowing kids to have Pokémon licenses years before drivers' licenses, Ash's somewhat sociopathic tendencies, some differences in the Japanese version, banned episodes and scenes, and many observances of life in a world full off fantastical pocket monsters and the people that must wander alone, trying to train them. So sit back with some snacks and hot chocolate and thank you for saying "Hitting Play, I choose you!"

The Simpsons (Shorts): Good Night

Join Lily and Scott as they take a look back to a pivotal point in the history of television. A time when a successful producer returned to television and helped a talented British actress with her sketch comedy show by approaching a comic strip artist with the idea of creating some animated shorts. Those cartoons increased in popularity to the point hat they were spun-off into their own show, where they've been a household name for almost three decades: The Simpsons! Listen as they breakdown the very first Simpsons short ever to air on The Tracey Ullman Show entitled "Good Night"! They'll discuss the early history of The Simpsons, from Matt Groening's attempt to retain publishing rights to his other characters, and Dan Castellaneta's Walter Matthau-like voice for Homer, to the strange look of the characters and the reason the shorts were never given an official release. So take a trip back to April 19, 1987 and see where it all started! And don't let the bed bugs bite!

Galactica 1980: Galactica Discovers Earth

Join Scott and Steve as they discuss the premiere episode of the short-lived reboot of the Battlestar Galactica franchise: "Galactica 1980"! Listen as they delve deep into the sordid details of this disastrous production, from over-inflated budgets and a writing staff rooting for the show's cancellation to dislike of child actors and a screenwriter who stayed thousands of miles away from the set. They'll also talk about the terrible three-episode story arc involving time warps, World War II, and a very distasteful flying motorcycle scene. Can you believe this thing was nominated for a primetime Emmy?! It was...for outstanding costume design! (That's right, the brown leather jackets were the true talent here.) So turn your vipers invisible, secure your language-tron translators, and laugh at this terrible show with us!

Angie Tribeca: Pilot

Join Scott and his special guests, husband and wife team, Kevin and Sarah, as they review the pilot episode of the hilarious police procedural spoof, "Angie Tribeca", created by another husband and wife team, Steve Carell and Nancy Walls. Listen as they discuss the shows' incredible joke density, from visual gags you would have missed, to the brilliant acting of Rashida Jones (in the title role of Angie Tribeca) and her 237th partner J. Geils, played by Hayes MacArthur. They'll also talk about the many celebrity guests and cameos that appear throughout season one, such as Rashida Jones' real life father Quincy Jones, Bill Murray, Keegan-Michael Key, and even a very funny guest appearance by the actual mayor of Los Angeles playing a security guard for the mayor of Los Angeles. There's so much to cover and not enough space to do it in the description, so with all due respect, listen to this episode!

Firefly: Serenity

Join Shawn and Scott as they breakdown "Serenity", not the feature film, but the true pilot for the cult sci-fi series that was canceled much to soon: "Firefly". Listen as they discuss what made this different from other works of science fiction, why FOX actually aired the pilot episode last, the unique fusion of American and Chinese cultures found throughout the series, and much more! They'll also talk about the great characters, the parallels that can be drawn to the American Old West, the attention to detail in the show's look, the excellent writing by creator Joss Whedon, and why lawn chair technology evidently hasn't changed in 500 years. So sit back, gnaw on a nutritional immunization bar and enjoy this episode like a strawberry. Ooh grandpa!

Sealab 2021: I, Robot

Join Scott as he takes a trip under the sea and reviews "I, Robot", a hilarious episode of the Adult Swim cartoon hit Sealab 2021! Listen as he details some of the craziest, and nonsensical conversations ever to take place on television. (There's a lot of talk about robot bodies!) He'll talk about the show's creators, Adam Reid and Matt Thompson, and how their discovery of an old tape in 1995 led them to the creation of this show, then Frisky Dingo, then Archer. Also mentioned is the great artist Alex Toth, who not only did art and design for the original series that this was based on, Sealab 2020, but also Space Ghost, Birdman, and many old Hanna Barbara cartoons that were given new life on Adult Swim. Scott also talks about Alex Toth's work on one key issue of X-Men, and how if it wasn't for the intervention of another comics legend, a certain classic character would've ended up looking like a weird Space Ghost villain. And much more! So put on your scuba gear, turn off your chainsaw hands, and enjoy the show! (Not you, Pod 6, you jerks!)

Listen as they discuss the many issues with Hawkman and Hawkgirl's memories, the logical flaws of the "Amon dagger", the coincidences in the story surrounding alpha particles, their problems with the climactic fight, and much more! Should disruptions in the timeline happen instantaneously? Do the "Back To The Future" rules of time travel apply here? Where were the 1970's incarnations of the "Hawk-couple", and why have they neglected their son? They talk about it! So choose to fish instead of cutting bait, listen to the show, and set an alarm clock in case you pass out!

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: Pilot, Part 1

Join Scott and Kevin as they review the first part of the pilot for the highly anticipated series about a group of individuals with special abilities assembled by a time traveler from the 22nd century to stop a despotic ruler from conquering the world: DC's Legends of Tomorrow! Listen as they discuss, in detail, the characters in this show from their mostly golden and silver age origins in the pages of DC Comics, to their live action debuts in the various shows of the "Arrowverse". They'll talk about the troubles of trying to tell a good time travel story, what characters they liked and disliked, and the interesting acting choices by Wentworth Miller. So grab a timeship, set a course for this episode, and enjoy the show. Oh, and try not to disrupt the timeline! (Just kidding! Very few things actually bother the timeline, it seems.)

And look for our review of Part Two in next weeks episode!
