Join Scott and Star Wars expert Paul for this BONUS EPISODE of Hitting Play as they breakdown every detail of the latest trailer for the most anticipated film of the year, Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens! Just after Scott and Paul analyzed a new batch of trailers in our previous episode, J.J. Abrams and crew released a brand new TV spot with loads of new footage! This new trailer, called "TV Spot 5" is being described as "Finn-centric" and offers new glimpses at the character of Finn and his journey from disillusioned stormtrooper to apprehensive hero to potential Jedi. In addition to discussing this new look at the movie, Scott and Paul will also discuss some other details about the movie that the internet has found and speculated on, including: the many flags and symbols of Maz Kanata's castle, if Rey's home is an old AT-AT, new improvements to the tie fighter design, and if the recent Vanity Fair magazine reveals a clue about Boba Fett. Join Scott and Star Wars expert Paul as they breakdown every little detail of not one, not two, but THREE new trailers for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens! (We know, we know, we thought we were done with these too!) Three trailers that offered many new interesting clues, and raised new questions as well. First, they discuss the trailer aired that during ABC's Thursday Night "TGIT" block, (including some ridiculous testimonials by the casts of various ABC dramas.) They'll talk about Finn and Rey's introduction to one another, additional clues to Finn's origin as an escaped stormtrooper, and a new scene of the resistance base. Next, they'll discuss the Japanese trailer, including what new intriguing clues can be gathered by translating the Japanese subtitles. Especially one potentially huge line not heard in English. And finally, they breakdown the new 30 second TV spot, and how its very short scenes can still tell us quite a lot about the characters and their locations during the movie. Then, combining all of these new clues, they'll discuss Maz Kanata's role in the Star Wars saga, what her cryptic lines of dialogue mean, if Finn is the new successor to Anakin and Luke, and much, much more! (Oh, they talk about the new posters too!) Does Rey live in an old AT-AT? Do podracers' flags from The Phantom Menace make an appearance? Is our favorite fishy admiral back? They talk about it! Join Scott and Star Wars expert Paul as they breakdown every little detail of the third trailer for the most anticipated film of the year: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens! Listen as they speculate on the motivations of Kylo Ren, what the Starkiller Base actually is, the origin story of Finn, and the mystery that is the absence of Luke Skywalker. They'll also address the questions: Who are the Knights of Ren? Why are stormtroopers burning homes? How did BB-8 land on Jakku? Do Finn and Poe Dameron dislike each other? Does Chewbacca die? And many more! They'll also discuss appearances by Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), Rey's (Daisy Ridley) life on Jakku, and the amazing work by J.J. Abrams. And when we say every little detail, we mean EVERY LITTLE DETAIL! They'll discuss how the movie's predictions of products, movies, advertisements, cars, fashion, sports, and news stories hold up and other little details you may have missed. Listen as they review, among many other things, every news item from Doc's copy of the USA Today, the items in the antique store window, the Chicago Cubs winning the 2015 World Series, and of course the Hoverboard. Some predictions were dead-on, while others may require another 30-year DeLorean trip to actually see. So, c'mon all you bojos, ride your hoverboards into town, meet us in front of the Cafe 80's and explore with us the Wednesday, October 21, 2015 we've always dreamed about!

Join Scott and special guest, Star Wars expert Paul as they travel a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. Where merchandising was scant and the "clone wars" were nothing but a couple of throwaway lines. When one stormtrooper was tall enough to accidentally hit his head entering a room because he wasn't a genetic copy of Jango Fett. When "the Force" was just "the Force", and not something that could be cleared up with penicillin. That's right, they started at the true beginning and watched "Star Wars"! (Or "Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope") Listen as they give you a ton of information you may have never heard before and details you may have missed. They'll tell you what's been changed, who's who, and why this space epic is truly one of the greatest film of all time. (Oh, and Paul will tell you why R5-D4 might me the most important character in the trilogy...allegedly.)
It's a regular episode, but as an added bonus, it also syncs up as a commentary for the movie! So, if you can, queue up your copy of the movie and watch along with us!

Join Scott and special guest, Star Wars expert Paul as they travel down a painful road, delve deep into a dark memory from their childhoods, and watch George Lucas' first installment of the Star Wars prequels: the infamous "Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace"! Listen as they discuss some of the terrible CGI, the crazy names and backstories for the many background characters, and make a somewhat modest defense for Jake Lloyd. (Hey, he was just a kid.) They'll point out cameos you may have missed, talk about "Episode I Racer" for Nintendo 64, and reminisce about falling for the hype and buying merchandise for the movie. All in real time as they watch the movie!!! Oh, and a "mystery guest" also calls in!
