Hitting Play

Join Scott, Shawn, Sarah, Kevin, and Matt as they have a Wonder-ful time breaking down and reviewing the very first live-action depiction of Wonder Woman, the 1967 unsold pilot presentation for a proposed Wonder Woman TV series: “Who’s Afraid of Diana Prince?” Listen as they laugh at this strange story of a 27 million-year-old woman who lives in a small apartment with her nagging mother, who also occasionally dresses up as a superhero and stops to admire herself when trouble arises. They’ll discuss this film’s connections to the great Batman ‘66 TV series, the odd decision to cast TWO actresses (one as Diana Prince, the other as Wonder Woman), why Steve Trevor being stuck at the airport isn’t really an emergency, and most importantly: What’s up with the mirror scene?! They’ll also talk about the other adaptations of the Wonder Woman character through the ages, live-action, and animated, and theorize what this series would have been like. So grab a bowl of ruffage, carefully fold your newspaper, and laugh along with us! Oh, and try not to fall off of the couch!

Join Shawn and Scott as they breakdown and review "Hi Diddle Riddle", the pilot episode of the iconic 1966 series "Batman"! Listen as they discuss the brilliance of Adam West, playing Batman as a serious detective despite the show's lighthearted campiness. They'll also discuss Batman and Robin's first adversary of the series, The Riddler, played masterfully by the great Frank Gorshin. From The Riddler's near-impossible (but always quickly solved) riddles and Batman's penchant for labeling everything, to interesting facts about the cast and two rare mentions of the murder of Bruce Wayne's parents, they discuss it all, and much, much more!!! Oh, and if that wasn't enough...the "Batusi" also makes an appearance! So sit back with some fresh-squeezed orange juice, disconnect the red telephone, and speed into Gotham along with us! Na-na na-na na-na na-na na Batman!

And don't worry! We won't leave you hanging! Look out for our episode about part two of the story, "Smack in the Middle": Same Bat-time, Same Bat-podcast!

Listen as they discuss "Banjo", the highly rated episode featuring Space Ghost's monstrous pet sea monkey as well as celebrity guests Schooly D and Weird Al Yankovic! They'll talk about the history of the characters of Space Ghost, from the  1960's Hanna-Barbera cartoon "Space Ghost and Dino-Boy", to Adult Swim spin offs like "The Brak Show", and even DC Comics like "Future Quest"! They'll also discuss the great voice work of the late C. Martin Croker, who voiced the hilarious villains Zorak and Moltar and the great musical work of the late Sonny Sharrock. Plus, Shawn will also talk about the amazing experience of seeing Weird Al Yankovic live! Join Scott and Shawn as they breakdown and review the pilot episode of DC Comics' hit series about Superman's cousin and her decision to devote her life to becoming a superhero: Supergirl! Listen as they detail the long history of the character of Supergirl, from a girl magically wished into existence by Jimmy Olsen in the 1950's (then crushed by a meteor), to Kara's death and resurrection, and a very poorly reviewed movie. They'll point out the many Easter eggs you may have missed, discuss the show's change of networks for season two, and theorize possible ways for Supergirl to join the other shows of the "Arrowverse". And if that wasn't enough, they'll explain how the episode wouldn't have a villain if it wasn't for Sean Connery wearing a speedo. (Sadly, this is true.) So wrap yourself in an indestructible blanket, eat a celebratory pizza, and join us for a trip to National City! Up, up and away!

They'll talk about the look of this version of the Wonder Woman costume, as well as Chris Pine's character, Steve Trevor, and his importance to the Wonder Woman franchise. From "Justice League", they'll discuss the attempts by Bruce Wayne to recruit Jason Momoa's intimidating Aquaman and Ezra Miller's introverted Flash to aid him in preparing for an extraterrestrial threat. They'll also talk about the Apokoliptian villain Steppenwolf and the Motherboxes he'll be seeking on Earth. Listen as they discuss the many issues with Hawkman and Hawkgirl's memories, the logical flaws of the "Amon dagger", the coincidences in the story surrounding alpha particles, their problems with the climactic fight, and much more! Should disruptions in the timeline happen instantaneously? Do the "Back To The Future" rules of time travel apply here? Where were the 1970's incarnations of the "Hawk-couple", and why have they neglected their son? They talk about it! So choose to fish instead of cutting bait, listen to the show, and set an alarm clock in case you pass out!

Join Scott and Kevin as they review the first part of the pilot for the highly anticipated series about a group of individuals with special abilities assembled by a time traveler from the 22nd century to stop a despotic ruler from conquering the world: DC's Legends of Tomorrow! Listen as they discuss, in detail, the characters in this show from their mostly golden and silver age origins in the pages of DC Comics, to their live action debuts in the various shows of the "Arrowverse". They'll talk about the troubles of trying to tell a good time travel story, what characters they liked and disliked, and the interesting acting choices by Wentworth Miller. So grab a timeship, set a course for this episode, and enjoy the show. Oh, and try not to disrupt the timeline! (Just kidding! Very few things actually bother the timeline, it seems.)

And look for our review of Part Two in next weeks episode!

Join Shawn and Scott as they have a blast picking apart every hilarious logical flaw in the first episode of Hanna-Barbera's third adaptation of the Justice League of America comic books: 1978's "Challenge of the Super Friends"! Listen as they give you the rundown of the Super Friends team, including the three heroes created just for the cartoon. They'll tell you why the Legion of Doom is the most inconsiderate bunch of house guests, why Lex Luthor should've known that Clark Kent is Superman within the first few minutes of the series, why Hawkman's other power is opening storage compartments, how the show's creators tried to jump on the Star Wars bandwagon, and much, much more! Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and the Flash? All in one place? How could it go wrong? Well...many ways, apparently. But it's a ton a fun! So fire up the ol' dream machine for a while and enjoy the show! Best yet to come!
