Tuesday Apr 12, 2016
Tuesday Apr 12, 2016
Join Scott and his guests, Hamish and Paul, as they analyze every frame of the latest offering from the Star Wars franchise: the teaser trailer for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story"! Listen as they discuss how the premise for this film had been hidden in plain sight within A New Hope the whole time, and how the genesis of this movie was nothing more than a quick pitch from a longtime Lucas Film employee. They'll discuss the many rumors surrounding Felicity Jones' character, Jyn Erso, if Diego Luna is playing Poe Dameron's father, if Darth Vader will make an appearance, where Forrest Whittaker, Donny Yen, and Wen Jiang's characters fit into the story, if Palpatine, Snoke, or someone else is inside of that glowing column, if Alan Tudyk is playing a converted Empire droid, and much, much more! From new characters and locations to familiar ships and bases, they discuss it all! We are only a few months away from yet another Star Wars movie! So speculate along with us and may the force be with you!

Captain America: Civil War (Comics and Trailers)
Monday Apr 04, 2016
Monday Apr 04, 2016
Join Scott and his guests, Kevin, and Civil War comics expert, Chet, as they delve deep and gear up for the much anticipated release of the latest movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: "Captain America: Civil War"! They'll first breakdown the seven-part Civil War comic book miniseries by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven, released in 2006, and theorize what story elements may be translated to the screen, what may be changed, and what the volumes of supplemental Civil War comics material add to this story. Then, they breakdown the two major Civil War movie trailers, and discuss how these scenes relate to the previous films of the MCU as well as the original comics source material. (As well as the first looks at Black Panther and Spider-Man!) Will there be another "Stamford incident"? Will another hero die? How will the character of Spider-Man be used in this story? Will Crossbones kill Captain America? All of these questions are tacked, and much much more! So step out of your cryonic containment, brush your perfect teeth, and enjoy the show! (After all, we could do this all day.)

Sealab 2021: I, Robot
Tuesday Mar 01, 2016
Tuesday Mar 01, 2016
Join Scott as he takes a trip under the sea and reviews "I, Robot", a hilarious episode of the Adult Swim cartoon hit Sealab 2021! Listen as he details some of the craziest, and nonsensical conversations ever to take place on television. (There's a lot of talk about robot bodies!) He'll talk about the show's creators, Adam Reid and Matt Thompson, and how their discovery of an old tape in 1995 led them to the creation of this show, then Frisky Dingo, then Archer. Also mentioned is the great artist Alex Toth, who not only did art and design for the original series that this was based on, Sealab 2020, but also Space Ghost, Birdman, and many old Hanna Barbara cartoons that were given new life on Adult Swim. Scott also talks about Alex Toth's work on one key issue of X-Men, and how if it wasn't for the intervention of another comics legend, a certain classic character would've ended up looking like a weird Space Ghost villain. And much more! So put on your scuba gear, turn off your chainsaw hands, and enjoy the show! (Not you, Pod 6, you jerks!)

Saturday Nov 21, 2015
Saturday Nov 21, 2015
Join Scott and Star Wars expert Paul for this BONUS EPISODE of Hitting Play as they breakdown every detail of the latest trailer for the most anticipated film of the year, Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens! Just after Scott and Paul analyzed a new batch of trailers in our previous episode, J.J. Abrams and crew released a brand new TV spot with loads of new footage! This new trailer, called "TV Spot 5" is being described as "Finn-centric" and offers new glimpses at the character of Finn and his journey from disillusioned stormtrooper to apprehensive hero to potential Jedi. In addition to discussing this new look at the movie, Scott and Paul will also discuss some other details about the movie that the internet has found and speculated on, including: the many flags and symbols of Maz Kanata's castle, if Rey's home is an old AT-AT, new improvements to the tie fighter design, and if the recent Vanity Fair magazine reveals a clue about Boba Fett. So much to talk about, and surely, more to come! May the sequels be with you!

Monday Nov 16, 2015
Join Scott and Star Wars expert Paul as they breakdown every little detail of not one, not two, but THREE new trailers for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens! (We know, we know, we thought we were done with these too!) Three trailers that offered many new interesting clues, and raised new questions as well. First, they discuss the trailer aired that during ABC's Thursday Night "TGIT" block, (including some ridiculous testimonials by the casts of various ABC dramas.) They'll talk about Finn and Rey's introduction to one another, additional clues to Finn's origin as an escaped stormtrooper, and a new scene of the resistance base. Next, they'll discuss the Japanese trailer, including what new intriguing clues can be gathered by translating the Japanese subtitles. Especially one potentially huge line not heard in English. And finally, they breakdown the new 30 second TV spot, and how its very short scenes can still tell us quite a lot about the characters and their locations during the movie. Then, combining all of these new clues, they'll discuss Maz Kanata's role in the Star Wars saga, what her cryptic lines of dialogue mean, if Finn is the new successor to Anakin and Luke, and much, much more! (Oh, they talk about the new posters too!) Does Rey live in an old AT-AT? Do podracers' flags from The Phantom Menace make an appearance? Is our favorite fishy admiral back? They talk about it! May the sequels be with you!

Monday Nov 09, 2015
Monday Nov 09, 2015
Join Scott and Hamish as they go back to the (um...very recent past?) and conclude their two part series, breaking down the 2015 scenes from the iconic film "Back To The Future Part II"! In part one, they discussed 2015 Hill Valley. Now, for part two, they delve deep into the scenes that take place at the home of the now married Marty and Jennifer McFly in 2015's Hilldale. From thumb pads to multi channel TV's to robot chefs, they'll discuss what innovations and devices the movie got right, and what still looks like the future today. They'll also talk about how Pepsi mishandled their "Pepsi Perfect" campaign, how the USA Today did everything right with their Back To The Future promotion, and why shoes like Nike MAGs may actually be closer to hitting the shelves than we think. So hydrate a pizza, put your video goggles on silent, and explore the amazing world of Wednesday, October 21, 2015 along with us!

Monday Nov 02, 2015
Monday Nov 02, 2015
Join Scott and Star Wars expert Paul as they breakdown every little detail of the third trailer for the most anticipated film of the year: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens! Listen as they speculate on the motivations of Kylo Ren, what the Starkiller Base actually is, the origin story of Finn, and the mystery that is the absence of Luke Skywalker. They'll also address the questions: Who are the Knights of Ren? Why are stormtroopers burning homes? How did BB-8 land on Jakku? Do Finn and Poe Dameron dislike each other? Does Chewbacca die? And many more! They'll also discuss appearances by Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), Rey's (Daisy Ridley) life on Jakku, and the amazing work by J.J. Abrams. Then, using the other two trailers and official poster, they'll try to put together the pieces of the puzzle and guess the framework of the story. So much to discuss, so little time left! May the sequels be with you!
