The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!: Rowdy Roddy's Rotten Pipes/Crocodile Mario

Join Scott and Hamish as they take a warp pipe back to 1989, a time when the Super Mario Brothers had their own television show that was a unique blend of both live-action and animation: "The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!" Listen as they break down and review both parts of the show’s 62nd episode: the live-action segments starring Rowdy Roddy Piper entitled “Rowdy Roddy’s Rotten Pipes” and the cartoon “Crocodile Mario”. They’ll discuss the humble beginnings of the Mario Bros. franchise and its surprisingly small history in television, as well as the many changes and adjustments to this short-lived, yet long running show. They’ll talk about the over-the-top acting by not only a very angry Rowdy Roddy Piper, but also by Captain Lou Albano and Danny Wells, playing the very nervous Mario brothers, and why it all adds to the delightful ridiculousness of the episode. They’ll also discuss why the Crocodile Dundee-inspired cartoon segment “Crocodile Mario”, featuring our heroes taking a trip to “Down Under Land” not only terribly misrepresents many aspects of Australian culture, but also the physics of the universe as well! From bagpipe-playing vacuum cleaners to reptile-repelling statues resembling popular actors of the 80s, this one has it all! (Well, maybe not “all”, but a bunch of weird stuff anyway.) It's an episode packed with very confusing story logic with many, many questions, but unfortunately our answers are in another castle. So throw a pizza on the barbie, keep your plunger handy, and laugh along with us! C'mon, do the Mario!

Street Fighter II

Join Scott and Hamish as they take a look back at a classic video game that launched an entire genre: "Street Fighter II"! Listen as they discuss the history of this game, from starting out as an arcade cabinet sequel, to becoming one of Capcom's best selling titles ever, and later spawning feature films, an animated series, and a toy line. Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch (w/ Scott Ross AKA Scotty Gee)

Join Scott and his special guest, the very talented Scott Ross, (AKA Scotty Gee of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch) for a fun episode about Scotty's journey from dancing in Boston to touring the world as a member of one of the most popular hip hop groups of the 90's. Nick Arcade: Salute Your Shorts Celebrity Special

Join Scott, Shawn, and special guest, Shawn's son Jonah, as they continue their look at the early days of Nickelodeon and break down an episode of the early 90's video game-themed game show "Nick Arcade"! But they didn't choose just any episode. For this episode of Hitting Play, they watched Nick Arcade's Salute Your Shorts celebrity special! Pokémon: I Choose You!

Join Lily, Scott, and special guest Hamish, as they embark on an exciting quest in a world of collectible little creatures and watch the very first episode of the hit anime series "Pokémon"! Catbeard the Pirate (w/ Matt Nelson)

Join Scott and Kevin (AKA K1 of the movie riffing group One Wall Cinema) as they discuss the awesome indie comic book "Catbeard the Pirate" with its creator, Matt Nelson! Listen as Matt discusses his comic influences, his writing and drawing process, his hilarious "Player None" and "Superdeformers" comics, and the lightning bolt of inspiration that led to the creation of Catbeard the Pirate. COMMENTARY: Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace

Join Scott and special guest, Star Wars expert Paul as they travel down a painful road, delve deep into a dark memory from their childhoods, and watch George Lucas' first installment of the Star Wars prequels: the infamous "Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace"! Listen as they discuss some of the terrible CGI, the crazy names and backstories for the many background characters, and make a somewhat modest defense for Jake Lloyd. (Hey, he was just a kid.) Atari: Game Over
